Jock
Cole Bishop was able to complete in 2018 over 1000 m of vertical assent. Would that qualify him for that portion of the silver badge. We would be able to send you the flight log for your verification and records.

To meet the altitude gain requirement of the FAI Silver badge, Cole will need to carry an approved flight recorder or an approved position recorder. to verify that during the flight he gained from the low point of the fight to the high point 1000 meters with the approved recorder or 1100 meters with the approved position recorder. That is because the latter uses GPS altitude to record rather than a pressure transducer.

York owns several Fy with CE position recorders, so he should check with john Brake on how to set it up for his pilot identity, and making sure it is well charged, take it for a flight, then use the proprietary software to download the .igc file and check the height gain with See You or the like.

Tony Firmin is the Senior OO at York.

Flight was done with a club CE recorder. Will contact Tony Firmin for more clarification.

If the two flight I accomplished do not qualify guess I will have to do it again.

Cole, I have the form claiming the 1hr flight and on there it says height reached was 6500ft ASL from a start of 3550ft ASL, this is not quite 1000m, so is there another flight record.

Cole

I checked with the SAC Badge chairman and the time for registering a claim is 6 months. So under the circumstances you will need to complete the height gain again and this time get the information to an OO shortly after completing the flight. I'm sure you will find many opportunities to do this. Make sure you are also quicker to register the claim when you complete your 5 hour flight as this is not so easy to repeat.
