York Soaring Operations due to COVID-19

Post by Tracey Brake » Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:58 pm

Coronavirus / Covid-19: In compliance with the announcement from the Premier of Ontario on Monday 23rd March, York Soaring Association operation is closed until further notice. This includes the club and campgrounds. There will be maintenance conducted as required.

As legislation changes the board will be putting in a plan to operate under the legislation.

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

I would like to send a reminder about the legislation. The Ontario Provincial Parks are open, however camping is not permitted. They are also not allowing private campgrounds to operate. As a result, we continue to keep the campground closed. As changes in the legislation happen, we will discuss with the board how to facilitate integrating new law into our operations.

"Ontario will open campgrounds and private parks on May 16 so preparations can begin for the summer season as a part of the Stage 1 reopening process, Premier Doug Ford announced Thursday."

For York Soaring, The Campsite remains closed whilst repairs are being made to the water and sanitary system. Stan Martin and Paul Chalifour will be on-site Saturday to see what can be done.

Once the Washrooms near the workshop are in good working order, The Board will open the campsite to MEMBERS 2020 only. Overnight stay will then also be allowed as normal.

Thank you for your understanding.

Is it now the time to poke our heads above the trenches and cautiously begin to venture out, and what are the risks? Epidemiologists have shed light on their discoveries of how the virus is spread, which we can use, together with government guidelines, industry standards and common sense to guide us, but fears remain, and we will have many questions.

Here is an article from the Globe and Mail which I think is sage and illuminating:
