Seminole flying?

Post by jwlemke » Tue Jan 28, 2020 5:48 pm

The winter blahs are settling in here.. It would be great to take a flying break!

I'm wondering about an extended weekend late Feb. The catch is I'm not checked out in the DG and my solo hours are low so I'd have to fly with someone else. I'm not sure who will be there or who else might want to go.

I'm thinking Feb 28 to Mar 2nd or 3rd but I'm flexible. Is anyone else interested?

Are there accommodations at or near the field?
Jim

There are accommodations on the field, very reasonably priced, they are pre-fab. Info is at www.soarfl.com or call by phone. I strongly suggest you reserve.

There is also lots of accommodation suitably close, but you will need a rental car (a good idea anyway). And the period you have selected is typically very good weather.

Mike Collier winters in Florida, and is often willing to fly with others as the P1.

Thanks Charles. Something wrong with their web site at the moment but I got a cached version for the contact number.

Is there a calendar somewhere to see when the DG is available?

Wayne Hewison has created just such a calendar, but its access is not, AFAIK, posted on the Forum, and I don't know how to pass along the access, but you can try this link: https://www.google.com/calendar/render? ... google.com. It may not work without permission.

So, as of now, the only booking in that calendar is Wayne and Rob, right after the Seniors Contest, March 21st to 28th.

The Seniors, BTW, is March 14 to 20, but it will be busy with many of the pilots arriving a week ahead, so accommodation on the field will be already fully booked. So your slot is available.

Thanks Charles! I can see the calendar from your link. I've asked Wayne to book a slot or give me perms to do so.

Tony, I just tried again. I can't create anything on that calendar. I think Public is for viewing..

I have entered your booking.

There's always a bit of a chance with a short stay, but the slot you have chosen has very good odds of great weather.

And rumour has it you may have a co-pilot
