I'm looking at buying this GPS / barometric altimeter / vario / logger.
Does anyone have experience with it?

Can't find it on https://www.fai.org/page/igc-approved-flight-recorders That's s a show stopper.
Why spend that much money on something that doesn't have some navigation assistance for tasks while you are at it? There are many used devices around that work great for 1/2 that money.

Thanks for your thoughts Martin. Stodeus states that it is FAI certified so I'd have to ask why it doesn't show up on that list.
"The IGC is signed and certified by FAI-CIVL, valid for any online ranking system."
For something new, it's half the price of a Collibri II or an LXNav Nano. Any suggestions where I'd look for used?
My intention was to connect it to XCSoar for position, altitude & vario input.
Cheers, Jim.

The IGC is signed and certified by FAI-CIVL, valid for any online ranking system.
Ah...bureaucracy...

FAI-CIVL is FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission. They have their own set of logger requirements (based on the IGC spec) and list of approved devices:
https://new.fai.org/page/civl-xc-instrument-accepted

The Stodeus doesn't appear on the current list, but if the approval is new then it may appear on a revised list.

Yes, thanks Alex. I've been looking at the certifications stuff over the weekend. More info than I wanted ; - />
