Don Kuehn's parachute

Post by don kuehn » Sat Nov 09, 2019 11:58 pm

I stopped by the field a few days ago to pick up my parachute from the office (thought it would be better at home in a warm, dry utility room than in a cold and damp clubhouse over the winter), but it wasn't there. Does anyone knows where it is? If it went with the winter folks to Florida that's o.k. I'd just like to find out.

We haven't rugged the 500 yet. How would I recognize yours?

Mark Lightfoot asked to borrow one of the parachutes from office for use in his glider for the rest of the season, he probably picked the best looking: i.e. yours!)

I pulled the chutes out of the DG trailer, and they both got damp stowed on the floor under the glider. So I will see if I can get Kelly, the rigger from Strong, to come to the field to repack them.

Still need to know how to identify yours, Don

Hi Charles,
1) the parachute bag has a badge sewn on it which I believe means it was actually used to exit an aircraft.
2) My name should be on the chute's log, and it was last packed by Joe Stubbs.
3) It has an extended chest strap sewn on by Jim Olds, a rigger that Joe knows and who is qualified to do that sort of modification.
Hope that helps. BTW, I'm glad that it's getting some use - better than just sitting around.

Is it a Strong, a Softie, or what brand? Is it just a backpack style or does it have a seat cushion?
