Walter update

Post by Ivor David » Sat Nov 02, 2019 7:34 pm

Walter is now at home and being supported by nursing assistance as required. For anyone wishing to pay him a visit I suggest it would be best to call first to arrange a suitable time that will not interfere with his convalescence routine.

Yes. Eva will probably answer and pass it on to Walter if he is able to take it. Or just leave a message.

Is it a palliative situation?

I don't know any details. You'll have to call Eva and ask.

I visited him mid-afternoon on Tuesday. He was in bed but very much alert. He looked much better than when I saw him in hospital and it was obvious he was really happy to be home where he can now get some sleep when he needs it as opposed to the hospital which he told me was very noisy. I had intended only staying 15 - 20 mins but he kept me in conversation for over an hour. I kept alert for the body language that would tell me it's time I should leave but it never did. Eva told me she has been looking for a nursing home but with prices of 10K/ month + and waiting list of 8 years or more it is almost impossible to find anything suitable in the vicinity now. Walter is very fortunate to have Eva who is still able to keep an eye on him - but she is older than Walter so I'm sure she needs to find somewhere suitable ASAP.

All in all I was very pleased with the progress I saw.

I called Walter last evening about 17:30, and it was a good time to call. He was at the table with Eva, and she handed the phone across.
