Weekday flying in October.

Post by tom fraser » Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:53 am

We can do limited weekday flying if enough interest on good days. A large group leaving for Sugarbush this week. Otherwise, see you on weekends and we can fly til the snow stops us.

Projects are on the go and if you are interested, Paul Moggach has started the refurb on YSY. Paint stripping of the wings is underway.

I will be available this week, but weather looks poor until Friday.

Tomorrow's TAF looks kinda ugly but if things look flyable when I look out from our back deck I'll drop by mid morning for some towing should anyone want a toilet seat flight (up, then down again).

Don, looks bad wind/rain wise from midday'ish. Maybe a couple of hours possible from 10am to 1200. I will aim for 10 am.

Dave and I arrived around 10 am. Clear skies except for some high cirrus. Hot and windy. Dave managed one flight after we got things going but during his tow the low clouds moved in - fast! by the time Dave landed it was almost solid overcast at around 1200 ft. Still, it was a bonus day and so much FUN! There will be a few more before we close the hangar doors for good this season.

Current forecast for Friday is for a fairly strong Northerly wind (10-15kts) until 12pm when it should drop below 10kts ??. Interesting overnight forecast is for the humidex to go negative so it will feel 5C colder than the the overnight low of +5C. High temp with the sun out and dryer air is +10C. Convection to 2500ft AGL after lunch.

I'll look out on our back deck on Friday morning and if it looks o.k. I'll boogie over to the field for around 10:00 ish. It might be frosty for the glider guys but the Scout has CABIN HEAT!! (if it works?!....). At this time of year it's kind of like squeezing money out of a banker. Still.....

I will be out to help tow or mow grass as needed later today. Looks marginal and cold.
