Zulu Hotel

Post by Charles Petersen » Tue May 14, 2019 5:35 pm

I received the C of R for the new-to-York Youth Flight Canada K-21 in today's mail.

Now to receive the glider

I'd like to fly it in (delivery was 'included') But both the SOSA field and York's need to be dry enough

Maybe the 25th...

Paramount YFC studios proudly announce

ZULU HOTEL

Produced and Directed by Charles Petersen

Staring Michael Cain, stoic flight line chief, fighting off hordes of savage pilots trying to take over Zulu Hotel, located at a lonely outpost in Southern Ontario. Based on a true story that saw many fall from the skies but also resulted in the award of badges for gallant flights.

Coming Soon, to an airfield near you

You should hold a lottery/auction for the second seat, proceeds to YFC

Well, we will have a problem if we find ourselves in the same contest as Cu Nim's Duo Discus. And too, there will be the problem with the contest letters

So, we would have to become Zulu Hotel One I guess...

I taught Guy Peasley how to glide/soar back in the early 1980's in Calgary @ Cu-Nim. I am sure he''ll easily give up the Zulul Hotel registration for a mere $10000 US... ZH1 wurks...

So, I'd like to retrieve ZH from SOSA this weekend, either by flying it to York (eliminating the necessity to derig, trailer, and then rerig) or by trailer as the second choice. Which brings us to the questions: is the York field firm enough to land without damaging it, is the SOSA field firm enough to take off, and if the answer to both is, which tug to do the tow?

As the forecast for Saturday is not encouraging (90% POP throughout the day), the field condition may be a question until Sunday morning. And SOSA is planning tow pilot checkouts in the Citabria Sunday, so even if both fields are good, it would be a late T/O, around 5:00 pm.

The probable choice seems to be Sunday with the trailer

Late afternoon Sunday tow is plausible, no?

Yes, he offered 5:00 pm.

IF both fields are firm.

More fun and more dramatic, but late on Sunday is a disadvantage. No decision yet...
